Kathleen Knight's Biography

Kathleen Knight, a former Miss
Colorado, who won the "Best Classical/Semi-Classical Singer
Award in the Miss America Pageant, began her multi-faceted
career in California, singing musicals, opera, symphony,
television and churches. Miss Knight has several musical
comedy credits to her name. She has performed Maria in The
Sound Of Music in the Philippines; Laurey in Oklahoma with
Harve Presnell; Knickerbocker Holiday, with Burt
Lancaster, Anything Goes, with Chita Rivera; and The
Music Man with John Reardon. In Houston, she appeared
as Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus at The Miller Outdoor
Theater in 1996; at Stages Theater in a revue about Noel Coward
called Noel, Noel. In December 1999, she sang the
solos in the Poulenc's Gloria with members of the Houston
Symphony, Dr. Matthew Dirst, conducted by Dr. Charles Hausmann.

Recently
in Houston, she was cast as Cinderella's mother, Little Red Riding Hood's
Granny and Jack's wife in the Beanstalk's Giant in the Theater Under
The Stars production of Into The Woods.
A
featured soloist with over 70 symphony orchestras throughout the
country, she appeared with Chevron Community concert series
conducted by the late Carmen Dragon, performing in such cities as
Seattle, Phoenix, Honolulu, Alaska, Houston, San Francisco and
Victoria, Canada. Regional winner, first place co-winner and
second place winner in the Metropolitan Opera auditions, her opera
credits includes: Of Mice and Men, Suzannah by Floyd, The
Ballade of Baby Doe by Moore, and leads in Die Fledermaus,
Merry Widow, The Marriage of Figaro, and The Magic Flute. Miss
Knight has also appeared with the San Francisco, San Diego,
Seattle, Portland, Vancouver and Denver Opera Companies.

In
addition to this impressive list of credits, Miss Knight has appeared
for Walt Disney Productions in their special 50th
anniversary concert tour, portraying both Marry Poppins and Snow
White; she toured in two national promotions playing Cinderella
and Snow White for Walt Disney Studios, making
appearances on children's television shows, talk shows, shopping
centers, children's hospitals and schools. She recorded
for the Monty Hall TV Special, performed a televised lead
role in Requiem for a Rich Young Man by Normand Lockwood;
she had sung at the White House with the Ray Conniff Singers.

She has sung for a
number of national conventions including the Fortune 500 in Rancho
Mirage, California; the Broadmoore Hotel in Colorado Springs with
Roger Williams; Palm Beach Florida; Miami Beach Florida; Hawaii, and
New York City. She also performed on Cundard's Sagafjord
Cruise Line. On April 28, 2000, she performed in a Cole Porter
Revue for the University Of Houston's distinguished President's
Club. In 1993, she received a Master's of Music degree in
Vocal Performance from the University of Houston.
She is currently working on an M.F.A. degree in Theater at the
University of Houston. Miss Knight sang three roles for
Houston's Theater Under The Stars (TUTS), Christmas, 2001.
She has done numerous cabaret shows at
Ovations with such
performers as Tom McKinney, Baritone; pianist Jack Buckhannan and
Glennie Scott. She has also performed two one-woman shows at
Ovations
Miss Knight was a Delegate at the International Mu
Phi convention in San Antonio Texas in 2001
Miss Knight has taught voice, musical theater, and
drama at Houston Community College, San Jacinto College and
conducted youth choirs at St. Phillips Presbyterian, Memorial Drive Christian
Church.
In 2002, Miss Knight
was awarded a full time position, teaching music theater at Houston
Community College, Central Campus. She has directed: "The
Fantasticks," "The King And I," "Snoopy," "Camelot" and a Kander &
Ebb Revue and "The World Goes Around."
